The Savage mag has a follower spring that is much too weak. the rifle did not discharge or anything like that, but the safety would not go into the safety. I shot it today, fired one shot, then when putting another in, noticed that the safety was not working.
the gun is around 4 years old now, never any problems very accurate, I like it a lot. I have a Savage Model 12 VLP SS in 300 wsm. The bore looks ok using a magnifier looking into the muzzle. It was broke in correctly and gets cleaned real well with the usual solvents and brushing techniques. It consists of a medium heavy fluted carbon steel barrrel with accutrigger,bushnell4200 8-32x40 scope,burris signature mounts on weaver blocks. The twist of the button-rifled barrel is a one in 16" and it also has a nicely recessed, target-style crown to protect the muzzle. It is a medium weight varmint profile barrel made of stainless steel. Bare, the rifle weighs 2.7kg (6lb) and is under a metre at 99cm. I had some feeding problems with it using the supplied Savage internal magazine system with both the factory and B&C stock (hence why it was sent out for a magazine system. It sits in a B&C stock, and I just got it back from having a magazine system installed. Loosen the small screw above the counter port and partially withdraw. You will need a hollow ground screw driver, modified to fit on the split nut securing the rotary mag spindle. If you have a barrel band model, take it to a smith.
